Standing at the kitchen island Rory surfed through pictures on Ayden’s Instagram careful not to double tap any of them. What was so special about her, she thought. She managed to penetrate Yasir’s heart and turn him into a new man. He thought he was so slick. Rory knew all about the secret house in the gated community he just purchased as a love nest for him and Ayden. It hurt to watch the man she loved give another woman everything that’s supposed to be yours. When he was in need, she swooped in without a second thought to help. Hell, it was her helping that even introduced him to Ayden.

Now they were living in their own little universe like she didn’t even exist. Pouring her drink back, she dialed Sophia before she went Waiting to Exhale on the whole fuckin’ house. After all, he had a new home. He wasn’t going to need this one anymore.

“Hey, boo.”

“Can you get a sitter tonight?”

“Yes, wassup?”

“I need to get out of this house tonight.”

“I thought you’d be spending time with Yasir since he was home.”

“Hmm, I thought.”

“Uh oh, what’s going on?”

“Nothing, just get dressed. I’ll be over to pick you up in a few hours.”

“No, I’ll come to you. You already sound like you’ve been drinking; you don’t need to drive anywhere.”

“Okay.” Rory felt warm and tingly inside, so she didn’t fight Sophia’s effort. Even though it was something as simple as not allowing her to drive, it felt good to have somebody care about her.

Fuck it, tonight there wasn’t going to be time to worry about anything, Rory told herself. She was about to get dressed, take a few more shots, and forget about Yasir and his bitch. The saying when you look better you feel better had was true. Getting glammed up, she immediately snapped back to herself even if it was only temporary. Admiring herself in the mirror, she was definitely trying to catch something tonight. Maybe she’d make a headline or two and allow Yasir to see how it felt when the shoe was on the other foot.

Sophia came and picked her up, and the two of them decided to hit Club Dream. Being married to Yasir held a lot of weight in the city, despite the club being packed it was no problem for them. That was the only benefit to being married to him because Yasir was driving her crazy. She didn’t know what she wanted from one moment to the next, but tonight she planned to forget about all of that.

“You’re really showing off tonight, bitch! Yasir is going to kill you.”

“I’m not worried about him. I just want to have some fun tonight.”

“I’m so glad you called. I needed to get out the damn house. Having a child is so much fuckin’ work.”

“Did you think it would be easy?”

“Girl, I don’t know what I thought, but I’m tired. Let him chase her ass around the house.”

“You’re a great mom, you deserve a break.”

“When are you and Yasir going to start practicing?”

“He’d actually have to be home for us to practice.
